Commonly know as Spanish moss, Tillandsia Usneoides is made up of one or more slender stems that bear alternate thin, bent, or curly, and densely scaled leaves that are 2-6 cm long and 1 mm wide. The leaves develop vegetatively in a chain-like way (pendant), generating hanging constructions up to 6 m.The gray-green garlands have occasionally been spotted hanging down as far as 8 meters.
The plant has no roots.It produces little, yellow-green flowers with spreading petals.The scape is partially buried beneath the leaf sheath. It propagates both by seed and vegetatively by fragments blown on the wind and stuck to tree limbs, or by birds carrying nesting material to new areas.
